Cafe Mustache
About This Spot
Stepping into Cafe Mustache feels like finding a quiet corner of the neighborhood where time slows just enough for a moment of calm or connection. By day, it nestles into its role as a cozy café with soft lighting and an easygoing pace, inviting patrons to linger over a book, chat with friends, or simply savor a thoughtfully made cup of coffee or tea. The atmosphere blends a sense of relaxed comfort with a touch of retro charm, evident in the warm worn wood surfaces and subtle nods to past decades that keep the space feeling familiar yet alive.
When the afternoon light fades, the pace at Cafe Mustache shifts gently but unmistakably. The café’s calm evolves into a lively local bar, where people gather not just for drinks but to be part of a community rhythm. The room hums with the sound of live music from local bands and the easy camaraderie that comes from shared moments—whether it’s the exchange over an espresso martini or applause for a favorite performer. Bartenders, who feel like friendly neighbors, are attentive without intruding, keeping the vibe inclusive and down-to-earth.
Cafe Mustache offers more than just well-crafted coffee or cocktails; it’s a space where the everyday and the unexpected coexist. The menu supports this with dishes and drinks that feel thoughtfully simple—comfort food with heart, like a breakfast burrito that satisfies after a morning rush or a creamy vegan chili grilled cheese for those seeking something different. These choices never steal the spotlight but rather underline the welcoming, unpretentious spirit of the place.
Whether you’re here to nestle into a morning latte or to soak in the energy of a local music night, Cafe Mustache holds a certain unpolished warmth. It’s that rare spot where you can come as you are, settle in for a while, and leave carrying a bit of the neighborhood’s pulse with you. A home base for quiet mornings and lively nights alike, this is where Chicago’s Wicker Park community gathers, comfortably straddling the line between familiar retreat and creative spark.

This is a good, chill place to spend a few hours reading a book or catching up with a friend. There are plenty of comfortable seating options, the coffee is fine, and the Wi-Fi works well. That’s about the extent of my experience here, but it’s become a go-to spot for those things. Apparently it’s also a fun local bar and music venue, and they have a food menu too.

I visited here for the first time on a certain day in November 2025. I needed to kill an hour. I found this cafe by chance. This cafe was nice , cozy and quiet. I ordered a cup of Hot chocolate. That was the best Hot chocolate I've ever had. All of the customers just enjoyed their personal time.

Cute cafe by day, rocking dive bar by night. Cafe mustache had blow your socks off local bands and local drink favorites. The bar tenders are kind, easy to talk to, and respect the vibe. Patrons are fun, excited about their community, and ready to be there for local artists.

I performed here a couple weeks ago and the bar staff was friendly and interactive with a special Casamigos & Coffee cocktail topped with cinnamon that was a tasty touch for our Madd Tea Party event. The tea was great too and the retro decór was pleasantly nostalgic. I look forward to performing again at this bar!

This place was awesome, shocked i haven't been sooner. Great vibes, the breakfast wrap was delicious. Coffee was okay for the price, had the smoky maple latte, wasn't anything to write home about. Staff was all very nice

Love's this homey cafe that doubles as a bar at night. I got a kale salad to be healthy, and ended up loving it. The portion size was filling with no leftovers. It has fresh avocado, apples, gets, and a light dressing. I also got a cup of hibiscus hot tea, which they refilled with hot water free. I spent almost two hours eating and crocheting I'm a comfy knook. Want to check this place out at night. It seems to have a good music scene at night. Cafe close at 4, and opens as a bar. Love's it and coming back

Came to see local artist preform over here and it was amazing. The environment is so well kept and the service was awesome. The bartender was so attentive. The sound & lighting was also on point. I had such a blast. It was my first time here and I will definitely come back just purely off the feel of this place!

A cozy neighborhood spot with a fun dual personality - by day it’s a café, and by night it transforms into a bar and performance space. I stopped in for a drip coffee as they were setting up for the evening, and loved the warm & intimate atmosphere.
